Rhoose football club nets funding boost
A thriving village football club has received a cash boost towards new equipment and a storage facility.
AFC Rhoose has bagged £1,000 from East Wales through the housebuilder’s Community Champions scheme.
Each month Persimmon, which has developments in the Vale of Glamorgan, donates up to £64,000 a month to good causes in Great Britain, including up to £4,000 in South Wales.
James Huxtable, of AFC Rhoose, said:
“We’re thrilled to receive this generous donation from Persimmon Homes.
“We’re currently raising money towards a shipping container which will enable our coaches to store equipment safely in a central location.
“The money will also go towards new training equipment, including pop-up goals.“It’s great to see Persimmon getting involved in the local community through Community Champions.”
Victoria Williams, Sales Director at East Wales, said:
“We’re delighted to be able to support AFC Rhoose with this money.
“This is a FAW Silver Accredited football club which benefits hundreds of people and does so much good work in the local area.
“It was great to have been involved in the club’s annual presentation day and we hope this funding will deliver long-term benefits for the club, its players and the community.”
